Officials with the Escambia County Healthcare Authority made two announcements this week concerning some coming changes for D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital.
After nearly 30 years in administrative positions at the hospital, Phillip L. Parker has decided to slow down, just a little.
Parker, who served as the hospitals assistant administrator for 15 years, became the administrator in 1994 and has lead the staff, employees and all those connected to McMillan Hospital into a wondeful atmosphere.
Parker will continue to be a figure at the hospital by assisting with future renovations and other administrative duties. He has even pledged to help out in the pharmacy if the need arises.
As Parker slows his speed, Chris Griffin will be speeding his life up by taking over the reigns at the facility.
Griffin is a positive force in the community being active in everything from Little League coaching responsibilities to serving the community with membership in civic organizations.
He has served well at McMillan for the past several years and apparently the decision-makers believe he has done a fine job. So fine, in fact, they have placed their confidence in him by naming his as Chief Executive Officer for the facility.
We believe officials with the Escambia County Healthcare Authority have made an excellent choice in Griffin.
He has served the patients and staff at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital well. He has served his community well.
We wish Parker well in his retirement and the best for Griffin in his new role.
