Blueberries and golf may not be a typical combination, but for the Country Club of Brewton Ladies Golf Association, it's a winning combination. The annual Blueberry Classic Invitational Golf Tournament will be held June 5 at the Club's golf course.
Brown, who also serves as the tournament chairperson, said the event draws golfers from a wide area of interest.
Karen Reynolds, president of the local LGA, said the event is a big draw for Brewton.
Brown said the event is set for a 9 a.m. tee-off on Thursday and will include a breakfast and a special lunch for participants.
Brown said special awards would be given in a variety of areas at the close of the tournament.
Brown said prizes would be awarded in six flight finishes with the championship and five additional flights.
Brown said the 96-spot tournament filled quickly this year, even with a change in date.
Brown said of the 96 golfers who plan to participate only 12 are from the Brewton area.
Brown said the majority of those golfing in this year's tournament are over the age of 50.
