Two people are being sought for questioning in connection with a Friday house fire on Lewis Lane.
Witnesses on the scene suggested a resident might have been in the home at the time of the fire, however Smith said the home was not occupied when the blaze occurred.
Brewton firefighters responded to the fire called in just before 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, according to Brewton Fire Captain Robert Crenshaw.
After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters remained on the scene to control smoldering and hot spots, Crenshaw said. None of the firefighters were injured in the incident.
Smith said the cause of the blaze was not immediately apparent.
