Shell named to All-State

W.S. Neal High School Blue Eagle baseball player William Shell has been named to the class 4A state baseball All State list.
Shell, a junior pitcher and infielder on the Eagle baseball team, helped lead the W.S. Neal Eagles to a 15-12 record this season.
His efforts helped the team clinch the class 4A area two championship with a win over cross-town rival T.R. Miller.
With the win, the Eagles advanced to the first round of the class 4A state baseball playoffs against the Thomasville Tigers at home.
The Eagles lost two of the three games to Thomasville and ended their season.
Shell led the Eagles to a win in game two against Thomasville to force a third game in the series.
Overall, Shell went 9-2 on the season with a .094 ERA. The player also netted 105 striekouts on the season.
Shell also received an invitation to play in the Brewton Lion's Club East and West All Star game.
The Lion's game was held on the campus of Jefferson Davis Community College in May.
Shell advanced to the next round of competition in the East and West game that was held the next week again at Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk field.
Shell will return to the playing field for the W.S. Neal Blue Eagles in the 2008-2009 baseball season.
Shell is also a player for the W.S. Neal basketball team.
He is the son of Joey and Gwen Shell of East Brewton.
