A 30-year-old fuel tank at the Brewton Municipal Airport will soon be a memory. A grant from the Department of Transportation will make replacing the tank possible.
The $76,417 grant award was announced last week by U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R.-Ala., who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee. Funds will be paid from the Department of Transportation to construct a hangar and a fuel farm at the local facility.
Shelby said the grant is being provided to help the airport meet the needs of Brewton.
Angel said the funds would help with engineering costs associated with hangar construction.
