Mr. Edd Fuqua Sr., 80, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at his residence on Forrest Avenue after an extended illness. He was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County. He attended Cedar Hill Methodist Church. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Navy. He was a former member in the American Legion and a retired crane operator from Container Corporation with 29 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Still Fuqua of East Brewton; three sons, Marty Fuqua and Daniel Jamison Fuqua, both of East Brewton, and Edd (Jodi) Fuqua of Hartselle; a brother, Clayton (Goldie) Fuqua of Lebonan, Tenn.; a sister, Katie (Robert) Wilson of East Brewton; three grandchildren, Hannah Fuqua, Lauren Fuqua and Zach Fuqua; two sisters-in-law, Sherly Fuqua of California and Kathleen (Jack) Peevy of East Brewton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 13, at 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. John Finklea and Speaker Bill Athon officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
