Mr. Norman Otto Cooper, 79, of Mayo Street, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at a Louisiana nursing facility after an extended illness. He was a native of Robeline, La., and a former resident of Crestview, Fla., before moving to East Brewton in 1973. He was a retired forester with Champion Paper Company with 25 years of service and attended the Appleton Free Will Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War in which he flew 55 missions over Korea.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Jordan Cooper of East Brewton; three sons, John (Sherry) Cooper of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., David (Kay) Cooper and Tim (Janna) Cooper, both of Brewton; three daughters, Gail Cooper, Susan (Chad) Cooper, and Jo Ann Cooper, all of Brewton; one sister, Sue Barnette of Fancy Gap, Va.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 19, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20 at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
