Three weeks into summer conditioning for his T.R. Miller Tigers, Jamie Riggs is pleased but is hoping to get better.
“We have started our third week of workouts and our attitude and enthusiasm has been good,” T.R. Miller Tiger head coach Jamie Riggs said. “Usually the month of July tells the tale on that, but so far it has been good. Usually we have a lot of people coming and going and doing a lot of stuff in June. But overall we are hoping to get a little more stronger where we need to and go out there and get a little better at throwing and catching and blocking and covering.”
The Tigers' workouts have begun with 57 players in grades 10-12 with the freshman beginning workouts on Monday with about 15 players.
The Tigers workout on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and then do outside things from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Also, the Tigers work on skills activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-10 or 10:30 a.m.
So far, Riggs said he has been pleased with his players.
As for seven-on-seven competitions for the Tigers, Riggs said he only has plans to attend one seven-on-seven competition.
While Riggs has been pleased with his player's efforts and attitudes, he said it has just been a typical summer so far.
