With the first day of summer not technically beginning until Friday, the W.S. Neal High School Eagle football team has been busy working a three-day summer conditioning program.
The Eagles have been working out for a seven-on-seven competition that they attended Tuesday in Montgomery and for an upcoming one-day camp Saturday at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Right now, the Eagles are in the weight room for about 45 minutes to an hour and then generally run outside for about an hour.
W.S. Neal went to seven-on-seven competition on Tuesday at Trinity Presbyterian High School in Montgomery and will go to the offensive and defensive line camp in Alabama on Saturday.
Hathcock said the kids are excited about going to the camp at Alabama.
Teams that were planning on competing in the seven-on-seven competition are Carver from Montgomery, Charles Henderson and others.
Hathcock said he planned on taking about 16-17 players to Trinity and will take about 30-35 players to Alabama for the offensive and defensive line camp.
Overall, Hathcock said he has been pleased with what he has been seeing from his kids during the past weeks and during their three-day workouts during the week.
