Thera Mae Brogden

Mrs. Thera Mae Brogden, 74, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at her residence. She was a native of Covington County and a former resident of Andalusia, before moving to Tifton 13 years ago. She was a former owner of Kid's Connection Shop in Andalusia and a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton. She had been a Brownie and Cub Scout leader. She was a member of the Pilot Club, Historic Society of Covington County and the Andalusia Library Club. She had been a Sunday school teacher in both Andalusia and Tifton, and was a receptionist at First Community Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Jenkins Brogden Jr.; her father, Semion Denzil Grissett; her sister, Marlene Fryer and her brother, Max Ray Grissett.
She is survived by her mother, Eunice Thera King Grissett; her son, Hiram (Pam) Brogden III; her daughter, Melissa (Gary) Burtle of Tifton; her brothers, Thomas E. Grissett of River Falls and James W. (Gail) Grissett of Stanley; her sister, Diana G. Harp of Brewton; her brother-in-law, Young Rainer of Abbeville; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Brogden, Will Burtle, Meredith Brogden, Thomas Burtle, David Brogden and John Burtle; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 14, at 3 p.m. at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev, Alan P. Harp officiating and Keahey Funeral Home directing. Her nephews served as pallbearers.
