It may have not been the prettiest baseball game ever, but it was the win that counts the most as the Brewton 13-year-old Babe Ruth team crushed the Evergreen All-Stars Thursday night in Evergreen 22-1.
The Brewton team jumped on Evergreen early and often as they scored eight runs in the first inning to grab an early 8-0 lead after the top of the first inning.

After taking the early 22-0 lead, and needing five innings of play for a complete and official game, Evergreen scored one run in the bottom of the inning and both teams decided to forfeit their last six hitters as Brewton took the 22-1 win.
With the 22-1 win, Brewton advanced to Friday's winner's bracket game and faced Monroe County at 5:30 p.m.

In Brewton's game, the starting Brewton pitcher went two innings on the mound to earn the win as Dalton Evans and Caleb Stewart pitched in relief in the win.
All three Brewton pitchers combined for a no hitter in the win. Dehoff went two innings and had five strikeouts, two walks and no runs. Evans walked two batters and was charged with a run as Stewart closed out the game with two strikeouts.

Following the sacrifice bunt by Maddox, Dehoff, Blackman, Evans, Whittle and Hunt all singled consecutively and Jeremy Myers added a single as Brewton held an 8-0 lead after the top of the first inning.
After two leadoff walks by Dehoff in the bottom of the first inning to put runners on first and second, Dehoff struck out three batters in a row for Brewton.
Brewton was then shutout in the second inning, but Dehoff struck out two of four batters in the second inning to keep Brewton with an 8-0 lead.
In the top of the third inning, Brewton scored 14 runs on six hits, nine walks, and one hit batter to claim a 22-0 lead to put the game out of reach.
Evergreen added a late run in the game to cut the lead to 22-1, but that would be the only run of the game for the Evergreen All-Stars as Brewton won 22-1.
