Mr. Alfonza Hails, 92, died Saturday, June 21, 2008. He was a native of Montgomery and a member of Union Academy Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Hails, two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by a daughter, Betty (Butch) Nicholson; a step-daughter, Bertha Jackson; four sisters, Wilma Poole, Inez Knight, Ernestine Dunson and Vergie McGhee; two grandchildren, Kevin Alonza Hails and Whitney Elizabeth Nicholson; a sister-in-law, Minerva Hails; a brother-in-law, the Rev. I. J. (Gladys) Culliver III and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 26, at Greater Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William Brown officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
