Fireworks illegal in city

With the long July 4 holiday at hand, fire officials are reminding residents to leave fireworks to the professionals.
Weaver said his department receives a number of calls each year during the July 4 holiday period in relation to fires and injuries related to fireworks use.
Weaver said Brewton city laws forbid the use of fireworks inside the city limits.
Weaver said parents need to pay special attention to younger children if fireworks are being used.
Weaver said fireworks are the only source of injuries during the holiday. Cookouts, which tend to be on the rise around a holiday, pose injury threats to cooks and guests.
Weaver urged using safety practices all year with special emphasis during the July 4 holiday.
