Mr. Huey Franklin Johnson, 58, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, in a Pensacola hospital. He was a native of Brewton and had been a resident of Atmore for the past five years, coming from Flomaton. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the US. Marine Corps. He served as a firefighter at Whiting Field. He was chairman of the E-911 system for Escambia County, and was a member of the Escambia County Association of fire fighters.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Johnson of Atmore; his father, Roy E. Johnson of Damascus; two sons, Christopher E. (Katherine) Johnson of Pensacola and John Johnson of Brewton; a brother, Royce (Ellen) Johnson of Damascus; a sister, Doris Thompson of East Brewton; an uncle, James Allen Johnson; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 27, at 3 p.m. at Flomaton First Baptist Church with Elder Larry White, the Rev. Jerry Keese and the Rev. Dave Moulton officiating. Burial followed at Elim Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing.
