Evergreen nixes EC Gold's hopes

In an elimination game for both teams, the Evergreen All Stars jumped out to a big early lead over the Escambia County Gold All Stars only to see Escambia County Gold cut the lead to four runs.
After cutting the lead to four runs, Evergreen blew the game open wide and scored seven runs in the final to innings to Escambia Gold's none and win the game 18-7 in four innings and send Escambia Gold out of the tournament with an 0-2 record.
Jack Coppenger took the loss on the mound for the Escambia County Gold team.
Colton Young and Dakota Graves picked up the only two hits in the game as they both went 1-for-3.
After a quick 2-0 lead for Evergreen after the first inning, Evergreen scored nine runs in the top of the second to grab an 11-0 lead.
Escambia County quickly scored four runs in the second inning and three in the third inning to cut the lead to 11-7.
In the second inning, the first five batters for Escambia County Gold, Dakota Graves, Quinn Riley, Derrik Barton, Colton Morris and Garrett Hart, walked to help cut the lead to 11-4.
In the third inning of play, Mason Kent reached base for the Gold team and Young walked to give the Gold team runners on first and second.
Riley, Barton, Marcus Simmons, and Hart all walked help cut the lead to four runs at 11-7.
After Evergreen put the score at 18-7, the Gold team put runners at second and third with one out, but failed to score as they bowed out of the tournament with the 18-7 loss.
