Local actors will be performing in one of the largest productions ever presented in Brewton this weekend as the Brewton Community Theatre group presents “The Wizard of Oz.”
Teresa Gleaton, director for the production, said the performances are putting plenty of local artists on stage.
Gleaton said the production is ambitious for the group since it is the first musical the group has prepared for presentation.
Gleaton organized and developed the choreography for the show adding one more hat to the hats she wears as part of BCT.
Performances are set for Friday and Saturday evening at 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Sunday. Admission is $7 for each performance.
Gleaton said funds are still needed to help the troupe with costs associated with presentations.
Although the cost of presenting “The Wizard of Oz” has been significant, Gleaton said it has been a stressful pleasure in preparing.
Major cast members for “The Wizard of Oz” include Emily Isacson as Dorothy; Allen Rigby as the Cowardly Lion; Stephen Billy as the Scarecrow; Joseph Billy as the Tinman; Mitzi Dixon as Glinda the Good Witch; Becky Moore as the Wicked Witch; Jim Dixon as the Wizard of Oz; and Winston as Toto.
