Just two days are left to qualify to run for office in Brewton and East Brewton. We're glad to see that a number of people have stepped up to run for office, both incumbents and newcomers to the political process.
Serving in local government - or state or national government, for that matter - is an honor and a huge responsibility. It can also be a thankless task, with few people appreciating the time and effort put into making important decisions. As residents, we owe it to the candidates to pay attention to their campaigns and vote in August for municipal races.
