Walter O. “Jake” Lewis, 84, died Sunday, July 14, 2008 at a local medical facility. He was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. He was of the baptist faith, a former Brewton city councilman, Brewton Police officer, a manager with the Brewton Country Club and a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Tuskeegee University with a degree in brick masonry.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Jewel Lewis of Brewton; one son, Walter D. Lewis of Odenville; and one daughter, Kimii Felder of Niceville, Fla.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Presley-Fluker Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 28 at 11 a.m. in the auditorium of T.R. Miller High School with Elder H.K. Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Bergan Memorial Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
