Advanced Babe Ruth 16-18-year-old team falls in district tournament

After qualifying for the Advanced Babe Ruth 16-18-year-old tournament in Mobile, the Brewton team went two games and out as they lost to Tallassee 9-5 and Covington County 5-2 at Matthews Park.
The team opened the tournament on Thursday when they fell to Tallassee and dropped to the loser's bracket where they faced Covington County on Saturday and were eliminated.
All-Star team members were William Shell, Aaron Nelson, Jake Smith, Bobby Freeman, Tyler Nall, Tyler Cross, Corey Williams, Allen Williams, Chris Edwards, Caleb Bethea, John Mathieu, Seth Holland, Derek Busby, Corey Rilling, and Stephen Warren.
Coaches of the team were Joey Shell, Wayne Nall and Mike Perry.
Tallassee 9, Brewton 5
In the opening game for the Brewton Advanced Babe Ruth All-Stars, Tallassee jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after one inning of play and added to their lead in the second inning as they took a 4-0 lead.
In the top of the third inning, Brewton cut the lead in half as they scored two runs in the inning.
After cutting the lead in half, Tallassee added a run in the fourth inning to take a 5-2 lead.
Brewton again cut into the Tallassee lead as they scored a run in the top of the fifth, but Tallassee took a 9-3 lead in the fifth inning.
That run would be the final run of the game for Tallassee, but Brewton threatened late in the game as they scored a run in the sixth inning and in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 9-5.
That would be as close as the All-Stars from Brewton would get as they fell by four.
Brewton starting pitcher William Shell took the loss on the mound for the All Stars. Shell went six innings and allowed nine runs on four hits and walked three and struck out four in the loss.
Allen Williams led the Brewton All Stars at the plate as he went 4-for-4 on the day with a homerun in the seventh inning and scored two runs in the loss.
Aaron Nelson and Chris Edwards were both 1-for-3 for Brewton and Corey Williams was 1-for-4 with a double in the loss.
Covington County 5, Brewton 2
After losing their opening game in the Advanced Babe Ruth tournament in Mobile 9-5 to Tallassee, Brewton dropped to the losers bracket of the tournament and faced elimination and Covington County.
Brewton jumped out to an early 2-0 after the top of the first inning, but scored no more runs in the game as Covington County scored three runs in the third inning to grab a 3-2 lead and then scored two late runs in the fifth inning to grab a 5-2 lead and take the win by three.
Derek Busby started the game for the Brewton Advanced Babe Ruth All-Stars on the mound and took the loss. Busby went 4 and 1/3 innings in the loss before being relieved by Shell who went the remaining 1 and 1/3 innings.
Busby allowed four runs on two hits and walked three and struck out five.
Shell allowed one run on two hits and walked two and struck out two.
Brewton's only runs came in the first inning after an Edwards hit and an Allen Williams walk, Corey Williams bunted and Nall singled to help Brewton take the lead.
Offensively for the Brewton Babe Ruth All-Stars, Tyler Nall led the team with a 3-for-4 day.
Corey Williams was 2-for-4 and Chris Edwards followed with a 1-for-4 showing.
