Brewton 13-year-olds go 1-3 in state tournament in Andalusia, beat Opp

It may have not been the record that they wanted at state tournament with, but the 1-3 record produced a big win for the Brewton 13-year-old All-Stars in Andalusia.
Brewton opened their with an 11-1 loss to Satsuma Saturday and dropped their first game of a doubleheader on Sunday 6-1 to Cottage Hill.
In their second game on Sunday, Brewton defeated Opp 11-10 to pick up their first win of the tournament.
On Monday, Brewton closed out with a 4-2 loss to Tallassee.
Game one: Satsuma 11,
Brewton 1
Satsuma scored seven runs in the third inning and eight unearned runs to claim an 11-1 win over Brewton in the opening round game for both teams.
Satsuma took an early 7-0 lead after four innings of play before Brewton scored one runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-1.
From there, Satsuma added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to claim a 9-1 lead and added two more runs in the sixth to claim an 11-1 lead and take the win by the 10-run mercy rule.
Satsuma scored the seven runs in the inning off of four hits, two Brewton errors, and three walks.
Jeremy Myers took the loss on the mound for the Brewton All-Stars.
Myers went three innings and allowed seven runs (two earned) on six hits and walked six and struck out three.
Tyler Dehoff relieved Myers and went three innings and allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks and one strikeout.
Myers and Jacob Fillmore were both 1-for-2 in the game with a single each.
Ryan Hunt and Hunter Mullins were both 1-for-3 with singles and Brett Smith was 1-for-1 with a single.
Game two: Cottage Hill 6, Brewton 1
After an 11-1 defeat in game one, Brewton suffered its second defeat in the tournament as they lost to Cottage Hill 6-1.
Brewton took an early 1-0 after the first inning, but that was the lone run of the game for Brewton as Cottage Hill scored six unanswered runs and won by five.
Cottage Hill scored two runs in the second inning, three in the third inning and one in the sixth inning.
Wesley Maddox took the loss on the mound, and Jacob Fillmore relieved Maddox.
Offensively for Brewton, Maddox, Cam Blackman, and Dalton Evans were all 1-for-2 with singles and Fillmore was 1-for-3. Jeremy Myers was 1-for-1 in the loss with a single.
Game three: Brewton 11, Opp 10
After losing its first two games in the tournament, Brewton faced Opp in round three and came away with an 11-10 win.
Opp took an early 1-0 lead before Brewton scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to claim a 2-1 lead after one inning of play.
Opp scored two runs in the second inning to claim a 3-2 lead, but Brewton tied the game at 3-3 after two innings.
After a scoreless third inning for Opp, Brewton scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to claim a 5-3 lead after three innings.
In the fourth inning, Opp scored three runs to take a 6-5 lead, but Brewton added a run of its own to tie the game at 6-6 after four innings.
After a scoreless fifth inning for Opp, Brewton scored four runs in their inning to take a 10-6 lead but Opp scored three runs in the sixth inning and one in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 10-10.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, an Opp All-Star error allowed Brewton's leadoff batter Ryan Hunt to reach base.
A single by Jeremy Myers was followed by a walk to Jacob Fillmore.
After the single and the walk, Tyler Dehoff finished of his 5-for-5 day with the game-winning RBI as Brewton won 11-10 over Opp.
Dehoff led all hitters in the game by going a perfect 5-for-5 with four singles and one double.
Ryan Hunt went 3-for-5 with a double and two singles. Jeremy Myers was 2-for-4 with two doubles and Cam Blackman was 2-for-3 with two singles.
Sam Smith was 1-for-2 with a single and Wes Maddox and Hunter Mullins was 1-for-3 with a single. Mullins, Myers, Jacob Fillmore and Dehoff all pitched in the win.
Game four: Tallassee 4, Brewton 2
Tallassee jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on Brewton and held on to win 4-2 over the Brewton All-Stars in the final game of the tournament for Brewton.
Tallassee score three first inning runs and one in the second, but Brewton crawled their way back into the game with two runs in the third inning.
The two runs was all Brewton could get as they fell 4-2 and finished with a 1-3 record in the tournament.
Sam Smith took the loss on the mound for the Brewton All-Stars.
Smith went three inning and allowed four runs on two hits and struck out one and walked two in the loss.
Ryan Hunt went three innings and allowed no runs on one hits and struck out one and walked two in relief.
Hunt was 2-for-3 in the loss to lead Brewton. Mullins and Brett Smith were 1-for-2 and Dehoff was 1-for-3. Blackman went 1-for-1 in the loss.
After falling behind 4-0, Smith led the third inning off with a single and Hunt followed with single.
Fillmore reached on a walk and Myers was hit by pitch to load the bases for Brewton.
Mullins then doubled to cut the Brewton lead in half, but that was all the runs of the game for Brewton in the loss.
Team members for the 13-year-old Brewton Babe Ruth All-Stars were Sam Smith, Brett Smith, Wes Maddox, Hunter Mullins, Dalton Evans, Cam Blackman, Josh Maloy, Cody Smith, Ryan Hunt, Jacob Fillmore, Tyler Dehoff, William Whittle and Jeremy Myers.
The team was coached by head coach David Maddox and assistants Steve Blackman and Dwight Maloy.
The All-Stars went 4-1 in district play in Evergreen to earn the right to play at the state tournament.
In district play, the Brewton 13-year-old All-Star Babe Ruth team beat the All-Star team from Evergreen in round one before falling to the Monroe County All-Stars.
After losing to Monroe County All-Stars, the team then defeated the Atmore All-Stars and earned the right to play the All-Stars from Monroe County again in the championship round of the tournament for the district championship needing to beat Monroe County twice to take the district championship.
From there, the team beat Monore County twice to claim the win and advance to state.
