Brewton still alive in Sylacauga

The Brewton Little League 10-11-year-old All-Stars battled Russellville for eight innings in a 9-8 victory Monday night in Sylacauga.
Luke Agerton started on the mound for Brewton and Chris Jones relieved in the top of the third with Kellyn Winn closing the game.
Russellville hit a homerun in the first inning scoring three runs, but Brewton held them scoreless for the next two innings.
In the top of the third inning, Jones Manning started the rally with a base hit bringing in Brewton's first run of the night.
Trin Miller followed up with a base hit bringing in two runs for the team.
Manning started the bats up in the fourth inning with a base hit followed by James Peach with a single that drove in Manning. Miller singled with a runner scoring in the fourth as well.
Russellville scored only one run in the fourth, but Manning ended the fourth with a catch off a hard hit line drive with bases loaded. Keaton Parker halted Russellville's rally that tied the game in the sixth inning on a play at third.
Both teams went scoreless in the seventh inning as Todd Mayo put the winning run on the board after walking and stealing his way around the bases.
Brewton finished the game with a double play from Jones, at third, to Tyler Reid, at second, to Peach at first.
Brewton advanced to the next round of the State tournament to face Huntsville Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Jones Manning went 3-for-5 with two singles, one RBI, and two runs scored. James Peach went 3-for-5 with a single and one RBI and one run scored.
Chris Jones was 2-for-3 with a double, single, a walk, one RBI and two runs scored. Todd Mayo was 2-for-3 with two singles, two walks and two runs scored. Kellyn Winn pulled three walks and a run scored.
Tyler Reid had two walks and a run scored. Trin Miller had two singles and three RBIs.
Luke Agerton went 1-for-2 with a single.
Jackson 9, Brewton 1
In their opening round game of the tournament in Sylacauga, the Brewton All-Stars lost to the Jackson All-Stars 9-1 on Saturday.
Keaton Parker pulled one walk with a run scored in the game and Chris Jones went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Todd Mayo was 2-for-3 for Brewton with two singles.
