Phillip Parker is enjoying a new role at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital, overseeing special projects and continuing to work part-time in the pharmacy.
While he isn't going far, his fellow employees plan to celebrate his success as hospital administrator with a reception in his honor Thursday.
Parker has retired from the administrator position but will continue working full-time at D.W. McMillan until the end of the year, when he will switch to part-time work.
Parker expects to oversee a construction project at the hospital in coming months.
Chris Griffin, hospital chief operating officer, has taken on the role of chief executive officer.
The reception for Parker will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the education center at D.W. McMillan.
