Brewton falls at state in Demopolis

After splitting their first two games at the state level tourney in Demopolis with Sylacauga and Central Alabama, the 14-year-old Brewton Babe Ruth All-Star dropped their final two games in the tournament to Tallassee and Satsuma to finish with a 1-3 record.
Brewton lost to Sylacauga in game one 11-3 before beating Central Alabama 13-1 in game two. In game three, Brewton fell to Tallassee 10-3 and in game four they fell to Satsuma 11-1.
Sylacauga 11, Brewton 3
In the opening game of the state tournament for the Brewton 14-year-old Babe Ruth team, Sylacauga claimed an early 4-0 over the Brewton All-Stars after one inning of play.
In the top of the second inning, Brewton got on the board with two runs to cut the lead in half, but Sylacauga added five in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-2 lead. The lead stayed the same until both teams added runs in the fourth inning to make it a 10-3 Sylacauga lead. Sylacauga added a late run in the sixth inning to grab an eight run lead at 11-3 and held on for the win in seven to drop Brewton to 0-1 in the tournament.
Gary McGraw got the start on the mound for the Brewton All-Stars and took the no decision as Conner Denton took the loss in relief.
McGraw went 1 2/3 innings and Denton went 3 1/3 to take the loss. Keith Bradley pitched the final inning of the game for the Brewton All-Stars.
Offensively for Brewton, Collin Graves and Shaun Odom led Brewton with a 1-for-3 day and one RBI each. Caleb McAnally added the other RBI in the game.
Reid Johnson and Josh Tompkins were 1-for-2 in the loss and Denton was 1-for-4.
Brewton scored two runs in the second inning and one in the fourth.
In the second inning, Bradley led the inning off with a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball and then stole third. After stealing third, Bradley was driven in by Odom who singled for Brewton. Collin Graves then drove in Monterius Culliver who walked in the inning.
In the fourth inning, Brewton added their third and final run of the game.
After two quick outs, a leadoff walk to Graves was followed by a walk to Johnson to put runners at first and second and two outs.
A Sylacauga error on a Logan Williamson's hit loaded the bases and McAnally walked to score Graves.

Central Alabama 1
After dropping their first game to Sylacauga 11-3, Brewton got on the winning side of things in their second game as they defeated Central Alabama 13-1.
Keith Bradley picked up the win on the mound for Brewton. Bradley went five innings and allowed two hits and one run and had three strikeouts. Eli Tyree relieved Bradley and went two innings and allowed two walks and struck out three.
Brewton scored three first inning runs and held a 3-0 lead after three innings of play before exploding for seven runs in the fourth to grab a 10-0 lead.
Central Alabama picked up a run in the bottom of the inning, their only run of the game, but Brewton added three in the seventh to take a 13-1 lead and held on for the 12 run win.
Reid Johnson and Ed Hines led Brewton with a 1-for-2 day at the plate. Gary McGraw was 1-for-1 and Conner Denton was 1-for-4.
After holding a 3-0 lead after three innings, Brewton scored seven runs in the fourth inning on one hit, two errors, five walks, and one hit batsman.
Tallassee 10, Brewton 3
With their 12 run win over Central Alabama in game three to even up their tournament record at 1-1, Brewton dropped their third game to Tallassee 10-3.
Brewton was out hit 13-9 in the game with two of Tallassee's hits being homeruns and left 11 men on base.
Conner Denton took the loss on the mound for Brewton. Denton went 3 1/3 innings and allowed seven hits and eight runs and one walk and struck out two.
Gary McGraw relieved Denton and went 1 2/3 innings and allowed three hits and two runs and walked one and struck out two. Keith Bradley relieved McGraw and went two innings and allowed one hit and struck out one.
Brewton took and early 2-0 lead in the game after two innings, but Tallassee quickly gained their lead with five runs in the third inning to take a 5-2 lead. Tallassee added three runs to their lead in the fourth and two in the fifth to grab a 10-2 lead. Brewton added a late run in the seventh to cut the lead to 10-3 but that would be as close as they would come.
Brewton got on the board in the first after a leadoff single by Denton who later advanced to second on a passed ball. Collin Graves followed with a walk. Graves put Brewton up 1-0 when he scored on a passed ball.
Brewton added a run in the second inning when Monterius Culliver scored.
Curtis Glaize scored the final Brewton run after he singled in the game.
Denton and Reid Johnson were both 2-for-4 in the game to lead Brewton. Caleb McAnally and Keith Bradley were both 1-for-4 and McGraw was 1-for-3 and Culliver was 1-for-1 along with Glaize.
Satsuma 11, Brewton 1
In their last game of the tournament, after going 1-2 in their first three games, the Brewton All-Stars dropped their final game to Satsuma 11-1.
Collin Graves took the loss on the mound for the Brewton 14-year-olds. Graves went four innings and allowed four hits and four runs. McGraw relieved Graves and went two innings and allowed five hits and six runs. Denton pitched the final inning and allowed two hits and one run.
Satsuma took an early 2-0 lead after three innings and then added to their lead with three runs in the fourth inning to grab a 4-0 lead.
Satsuma took a 10-0 lead after six innings before Brewton scored one in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 10-1. After Brewton scored one run in the sixth inning, Satsuma added one of their own to grab an 11-1 lead and take the win by 10 to finish the tournament for Brewton.
Brewton's lone run of the game came in the sixth inning.
Williamson led the inning off with a single as McAnally then doubled to score Williamson.
Denton led the team offensively with a 3-for-4 game and Reid Johnson was 2-for-4.
Collin Graves was 1-for-4 and Logan Williamson was 1-for-1. Caleb McAnally was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
