Phillip Parker was a “perfect fit” for D.W. McMillan Hospital.
That's what former hospital administrator Billy Griffin remembers thinking of the young pharmacist when he told Griffin he was thinking of going to school for hospital administration.
Parker stepped down as hospital CEO last month and has been working in the pharmacy and overseeing special projects at the hospital. He will work part-time after the end of this year.
As of Thursday, Griffin said, Parker had worked “29 years, two months and a day” at D.W. McMillan.
Griffin's son, Chris, who has taken over as CEO at the hospital, said Parker taught him about the industry.
The hospital staff gave Parker a plaque commemorating his work and a set of golf clubs.
Parker was visibly moved by the reception.
Parker credited his family and the staff at the hospital for his success.
