Mr. John Roy Wilcoxon, 66, died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at his home.
He was a native of Old Fort, Tenn., and a resident of Century, Fla., for 30 years, coming from Montevallo.
He was a member of Buck Creek Lodge 410 of Alabaster, the Retired Teamsters Union 991 in Mobile and of Poplar Dell Baptist Church in Century. Mr. Wilcoxon worked the last eight years as a truck driver for Miller Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Wilcoxon; his brother Luther; his sister Marie; and his son Brad.
He is survived by his mother, Stella Wilcoxon of Old Fort; his wife, Grace Wilcoxon of Century; a son, Scobie L. Wilcoxon Sr. of Houston, Texas; a brother, Andy Wilcoxon of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Nancy Wilcoxon of Old Fort and Mary Lott of Charleston, S.C.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Casey Wilcoxon, Scobie L. Wilcoxon Jr., John Garner, Carl Gandy, Theodore Creamer and Gene Findley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Masonic Lodge members.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Poplar Dell Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Gandy and the Rev. Mitch Herring officiating and Flomaton Brown Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Poplar Dell Funeral Home.
