Brewton Area YMCA hosts basketball camp

The Brewton Area YMCA hosted the Charlie Ballard basketball camp last week sponsored by the Brewton Kiwanis Club.
The camp saw about 30 area kids attend the weeklong camp.
Kids who attended the camp learned the basic skills of the game of basketball from area coaches and colunteers.
Also during the week, Charlie Ballard campers were taught offensive and defensive skills.
Along with the drills and skills learned in the camp, special awards were given througout the week:
In grades third and fourth awards went to Neikel Robinson- Gotcha award, Taylor Stewart-dribbling award, Neikel Robinson, Taylor Stewart and Moriah Smith-three-on-three award, JaQuandra Webster- free-throw award, Jade Adams-hustile award, camper of the day-Steely Ruzic, camper of the week, Tanner McDaniel, and the Charlie Ballard award went to Sammy Jackson.
In the fifth and sixth grades, Trae Walke-gotcha award, Tempestt Thompson-dribbling award, Geovani Little, Akilah Brazil and Trae Walker-three-on-three award, Emonea Curry free-throw award, hustle award-D'Angelo Taylor, camper of the day-Trae Walker, Charlie Ballard award Emonea Curry and MyKayla Harrison received the award for camper of the week.
In grades seventh through ninth awards went to, Neino Robinson-Gotcha award, Akeem Gray-dribbling, Caleb Dickey, Darrion Salter, Jr. JaCoby Broughton, O'Nesha Hall, Jerric Woods recieved the three-on-three award, Garrett Jackson- camper of the day, Jerome Webster-Charlie Ballard award and Robert Portis received the award for camper of the week.
The 2008 YMCA sports season will begin this month.
The Brewton Area YMCA soccer season begins Aug. 18 for ages K4 to eighth grade.
