T.R. Miller High School football coach Jamie Riggs says he has been pleased with his senior's commitment during summer football preperations.
Along with the usual workouts during the week, the Tigers participated in a camp and hosted a four-team 7-on-7 camp.
While Riggs saw a couple of players step up and show improvements this summer, solidifying starting lineup spots will be determined more into fall practices.
One other thing Riggs was pleased with was the commitment of his seniors.
Along with his seniors stepping up, Riggs named five players who stuck out to him and other teammates this season.
While fall practice has just finished up its first week of practice, Riggs said the players don't really have much transition from summer work to fall work.
The Tigers have added a new coach on the sidelines this season Rob Atkinson.
As for fall workouts, the Tigers will work two weeks on their own work and work their own offense and defense strategies. About the third week, the Tigers will start working on game plans.
“Usually the first week is to see who can play where and where we need help and our depth,” Riggs said. “We will have some guys who showed they were not ready in February and that's where we will see who is ready now in the summer and fall.”
T.R. Miller will open their 2008 season Friday, Aug. 29, in Atmore when they take on the Escambia County High School Blue Devils.
