After a two-year hiatus, the Buckmasters Expo is back home in Montgomery, set for a three-day run Aug. 15-17 at the new Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center.
When construction on the hotel and renovation of the convention center started, Buckmasters and city officials had hoped to keep the expo in Montgomery. But it quickly became obvious that the project wouldn't allow it and Buckmasters took the expo to Greensboro, N.C., during the construction period.
Bushman said there has been a definite buzz in the outdoors community about the expo and said the exhibitor space of 300 booths has been completely sold out.
Some proceeds from the expo and fundraisers will also allow Buckmasters to fund a new program that will honor members of the United States military.
Expo hours are 3-9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Charlie Daniels Band and Johnny Lee will perform for Buckmasters members at Train Station on Saturday night. Also scheduled during the weekend is the Top Bow Indoor World Championships.
The Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will hold a Hunter Education Field Day on Friday, Aug. 15, starting at 5 p.m. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. For those who have completed the online Alabama Hunter Education program, register at www.outdooralabama.com/hunting/education <http://www.outdooralabama.com/hunting/education> . Those registered should print and bring the final report of completion to the Field Day.
