School board recognizes continued growth

County school officials are looking at increasing numbers of students throughout the system and may expect those numbers to grow in the next few weeks.
Hines said official numbers wouldn't be available until after Labor Day.
Hines said the enrollment at county schools has increased for three years, which has required the hiring of additional teachers at the elementary school level.
In other action taken by the Escambia County School Board members during Thursday's meeting, retired school buses will be sold in coming weeks.
Buses will be sold on a sealed-bid basis. Information concerning the possible purchase of the buses can be found at the main offices of the Escambia County School System on Belleville Avenue.
