JD volleyball splits in tourney

After a change of venue for their first volleyball game of the 2008 season, the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk volleyball posted a 3-0 win over Faulkner University Friday afternoon.
The Lady Warhawks claimed a 30-14 win in game one, a 30-11 win in game three and a 30-16 win in game three to take the match. The win put the Lady Warhawks at 1-0 on the season.
Sydney Boutwell led the Lady Warhawks in the win over Faulkner with nine digs, one ahead of Tamara Lewis.
In their second game of the tournament, the Lady Warhawks fell 0-3 to PJC to even their 2008 record at 1-1.
Brittney Rogers and Sandlin led with three kills each and Johnson had two service aces in the loss.
Boutwell led in the digs category again with eight in the loss.
The Lady Warhawks will now being their conference schedule on Thursday at Wallace State of Hanceville. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in Hanceville.
The Lady Warhawk's first home game will be Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. against Wallace State-Selma Community College.
After that, the Lady Warhawks will also play at home on Friday, Sept. 5 and Monday Sept. 8 against Central Alabama Community College and Pensacola Junior College respectively. All games begin at 6 p.m.
