Melvin Hestel “Brother” Hammac

Mr. Melvin Hestel “Brother” Hammac, 73, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at his Brewton residence. He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. He was of the protestant faith and attended the Alabama Deaf Institute.
He is survived by a brother, Hubert Hammac of Brewton; three sisters, Doris (Marvin) Crutchfield and Eunice Day, both of Brewton and Muriel Steele of Bay Minette; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. from Craver's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Clyde Bruley officiating. Burial followed at Hanberry Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Ricky Elliott, Elliott Dolbear, Willie Ben Downs, Wayne Smith, Cyril Hammac Jr. and Eddie Hammac.
