TRM cross country girls win first meet

In just their first meet of the year and first time competing as a team, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger cross country team took first place in the Foley Cross County Invitational.
Amber Nelson led the Lady Tigers with a third place finish overall and a time of 21:39. Nelson was followed by sixth place overall finisher Shelby Youngblood and seventh place finisher Karissa Nelson. Youngblood ran a time of 22:22 and Nelson was two seconds behind at 22:24.
Rounding out the placers for the Lady Tigers were Katie Nelson in ninth place with a time of 22:36 and Abbie Carlson in 25th place with a time of 27:17.
Taylor Guthrie had a time of 28:15 and Leah Huff fifnished with a 29:30 for the Lady Tigers.
In a two-mile middle school race, Amber Terry took the fifth place spot for the Tigers and Christian Carlson took third for the boys. Terry had a time of 16:05 and Carlson had a time of 14:01.
For the T.R. Miller boys, Geoff Youngblood helped lead the Tigers to a fifth place overall finish as he finished first for the Tigers and sixth overall with a time of 18:20.
Brandon Nelson was 11th overall with a time of 19:01 and Cole Pruitt finished with a time of 21:20.
Taylor Terry ran a 21:34 followed by a 23:25 from Corey Redfearn and a 24:15 from Gerric Woods.
The Tigers next race will be on Sept. 13 in Mobile in the Azalea Invitational on the campus of the University of South Alabama.
