More than 35 citizens gathered recently to establish a neighborhood watch in the East Brewton area.
The group has taken on the responsibility to patrol the streets of East Brewton and report any suspicious activity to the police.
Frankie Lanier was among more than a dozen citizens who lined Williamson Street Monday evening in an attempt to let the community know the watch group is working.
McClelland praised the East Brewton Police for their response to calls from the watch group.
Blair also praised police officers for quick response, but said the problem is bigger than can be handled with a small force.
Blair said some residents have taken to the streets in a patrol of the neighborhood during recent days.
Blair, who denied being the leader of the group, said anyone in East Brewton who wants to be a part of the neighborhood watch is certainly welcome to join in.
To report suspicious activity in East Brewton, contact the East Brewton Police Department at 867-4864.
