Parenting choices: Advocate Williams to speak next week

Jim Williams, a nationally acclaimed parenting advocate and speaker is coming back to Brewton. He made such a huge impact on the lives of children and adults over the last two years with his charismatic message, the First United Methodist Church of Brewton has invited him back.
Williams will speak to students at Brewton Elementary School, Brewton Middle School and T.R. Miller High School on Sept. 15-18.
He will also give presentations about “Strengthening Families” to parents and others who interact with children on Monday and Tuesday at the UMCA and at Brewton First United Methodist Church on Wednesday. A free snack will be provided on Monday and Tuesday evenings with Wednesday's dinner costing $4 for adults and $3 for children.
The meals at each night's activities will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 6 p.m. There will be fun and educational activities for children six weeks through sixth grade will also be offered.
Williams is the director of the Parent Education and Asset Development for STARS, a school-based program helping students make healthy life-style choices. He has developed a series of educational presentations for children as well as a series of parenting workshops for adults.
He devotes his days to helping children and his evenings to working with their parents.
He is the author of “Parenting on Point” and is the featured presenter on the video ProActive Parenting part of the FaithHome for Parents series produced by Abingdon Press.
