The Brewton Middle School football team dropped to 0-2 on the year with a 22-14 loss to Monroe County last week.
Brewton was the first to get on the board with a 14-yard pass reception from Kevin Davis to Caleb Hubbard in the first quarter. A Davis-to-Kameron Coleman on the two-point conversion put the Tigers up 8-0.
Monroe County then tied the game at 8-8 in the first quarter.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Monroe County added two touchdowns to go up 22-8. The Tigers closed the gap to 22-14 in the fourth quarter when Jamal Spears scored on a 3-yard run with 5:42 left in the game. The two-point conversion was no good and the Tigers would fail to score any more points as they fell by eight.
Davis was 4-for-9 on the night with two interceptions and 61 yards.
Ryan Hunt had two catches for 41 yards for the Tigers.
Maye led the Tigers run game with 92 yards on 12 carries.
The Tigers were set to play Tuesday night at home against Earnest Ward after having their Thursday game rescheduled.
