Lady Tiger cross country takes third

The T.R. Miller Tiger cross-country girls took third place out of 11 teams and the boys took sixth place out of 15 over the weekend in the Azalea City Invitational in Mobile.
Karisa Nelson led the Lady Tigers coming in third place with a time of 21:12. Shelby Youngblood and Katie Nelson finished eighth and ninth overall with both having times of 21:35. Amber Nelson finished in 19th place with a time of 22:48. Taylor Guthrie finished in 44th place with a time of 26:23 and Abby Carlson rounded out the Lady Tigers with a time of 28:29 as she took 58th place overall out of 79 total placers.
In JV girls action, Desiree Gibbs was third overall with a time of 15:21 and Amber Terry finished 19th with a time of 16:25.
In JV boys, Christian Carlson was 72nd of 135 placers with a time of 15:01.
In high school boy's action, Geoff Youngblood in seventh place with a time of 17:42 and Brandon Nelson finished in ninth place with a time of 17:45.
Cole Pruitt finished in 45th place with a time of 20:55 and Taylor Terry took 51st place with a time of 21:13.
Corey Redfearn finished in 61st place with a time of 22:03 and Jerric Woods and John Mathieu finished in 76 and 77th place overall with a time of 23:16 and 23:27 respectively.
T.R. Miller Tiger cross county coach Rob Atkinson said he was proud of his team's performance against some tough competition.
The Tigers were set to run again on Tuesday afternoon in Pace at the Pace Invitational.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, all T.R. Miller High School Tiger runners will be back in action when they travel to Pensacola, Fla., in the Gulf Coast Stampede at 8 a.m.
The Tigers will be back in Pensacola on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they compete in the Wildcat Invitational at 8 a.m.
