Southwest Regional Forestry plans public field day Oct. 1

Landowners in south central Alabama will have an opportunity to see and learn more about forestry and land management at the upcoming Southwest Regional Forestry field day event.
The event, which is free to the public, is set for Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The rotating programs will enable all attending to see pond management, the biodiesel gasifier and control burning during the event.
Exhibits on such topics as carbon credits and forest products will also be on hand for the day. Power saw demonstrations can also be viewed throughout the day. Following lunch, a demonstration on farm equipment safety will be presented.
Door prizes will be drawn at the end of the day according to organizers of the event.
The event is being sponsored by the Alabama Tree Farm Committee, Natural Resources Council, Escambia S&WCD, and Conecuh S&WCD.
Partners for the event are Alabama Treasure Forest, Forestry Commission, Conecuh County Forestry Committee and the Monroe County Forestry Committee.
