Mr. Charles Gordon Brown, 79, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at his residence. He was a native of Worster, Mass., and an auto mechanic. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was the first commander of the American Legion Post 105 of Newport, Maine, and Post 88 of Mobile. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 575 in Repton and a member of the V.F.W. 49 of Mobile. He was a member of the Springhill United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his partner and companion of 48 years, Jennifer K. Brown of Repton; five sons, Brady Brown, Bruce (Kathy) Brown and Bill Brown, all of Mobile, Bryan (Barbara) Brown of Stevenson, and Barry (Becky) Brown of Lenox; three daughters, Valerie (Darrel) Spencer of Hurley, Miss., Velvet (Peter) Bianco of Dade City, Fla., and Robin (Roger) Tillman of Mobile; two sisters, Helen Rankin of East Hiram, Maine, and Rita Lonngroth of West Boyston, Mass.; and a number of grandchildren and loving friends.
Funeral services were be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at Springhill United Methodist Church in Repton. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery with Cope Funeral Home directing.
