Mrs. Patricia Ann Gillis “Mama Pat” Cooper, 74, of Garrett Street, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 at a Pensacola hospital from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident. She was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. She was a retired LPN with D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of the first LPN class at Reid State Technical College. She was a member of the Brewton First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Louis Cooper Jr.; a brother, James Gordon Gillis; and a sister, Virginia Gillis Grand.
She is survived by a son, George Louis (Patricia) Cooper III of Acworth, Ga.; three daughters, Clair Cooper Sanborn, Martha Dawn Cooper (Kimsey) Singleton, and Margaret Cooper, all of Brewton; two sisters, Jean Gillis (Dr. George) Burson of Dothan, and Sylvia Gillis (Henry) Snow of Birmingham; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other special friends and family.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Brewton First Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at Brewton First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Mathieu officiating and Williams Memorial Funeral Home directing.
