After a big 57-6 homecoming win over Calhoun Friday night at home, the W.S. Neal Eagle football team ended their three-game losing streak and improved to 2-3 on the season.
This week, the Eagles will begin their second half of the season and will travel north on U.S. 31 to Evergreen to take on the Jaguars of Hillcrest.
The win for W.S. Neal was not only a big win on the scoreboard, but it helped end the previous-mentioned three game losing streak for the Eagles. The win also helped a struggling offense for the Eagles put a plenty of points on the board. The Eagles scored 57 points in the game, just two shy of the amount of points W.S. Neal had scored in their previous four games.
Hillcrest comes into the game with W.S. Neal with a 1-4 overall record and a 0-3 region record. Hillcrest is coming off a 34-14 loss to 5A Spanish Fort in non-region play and is 5-0 on the year. The Eagles are the only other 0-3 team in the region, so one team will be able to pick up their first region win this week.
While Hillcrest's record may be 1-4 and a little deceiving, Hathcock says that he sees some good things on both sides of the ball from the Jaguars.
This will be just the second game on the road for the Eagles after a 26-0 loss to Andalusia in week three.
Game time for the Eagles and Jaguars is set for 7 p.m. in Evergreen on the campus of Hillcrest High School.
