Lady Tigers win over MC on senior night

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger volleyball team went 1-2 in their most recent three games putting their record at 10-3 overall and 0-2 in area play.
The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger volleyball dropped their two area games in their tri-match with No. 1 Bayside Academy and Cottage Hill. It was the Lady Tiger's first losses since losing their first game of the season to Flomaton. T.R. Miller lost to Bayside Academy 25-19, 25-10 and 25-10 and then to Cottage Hill 25-11, 25-13, and 25-17.
After losing their first two area games and their first game since their opening season loss to Flomaton, the Lady Tigers bounced back and beat Monroe County Thursday night in Brewton 3-1. With the win, T.R. Miller improved to 10-3 overall.
In the win over Monroe County, the final home game for the Tigers and senior night, the Lady Tigers won 25-16 in game one, lost game two 25-22, won game three 25-9 and won game four 25-11.
One surprise in the Lady Tigers win and on senior night was the return of senior Morgan Hubbard. Hubbard tore her ACL before the season started and returned for the first time this season in a limited action serving role.
After not picking up any service in games one through three, Hubbard picked up four to open game four and finished with eight in a row to end the game. Hubbard finished with 12 service points and five aces in her return.
When Hubbard came off the bench and subbed in, the crowd and players on the court started cheering and yelling for her.
After the two losses the other night, White said he was glad for his team to come back and claim the win.
Along with Hubbard, White had three other seniors on his team with Brittany Shaddix, Alex Bondurant and Brandi Kennedy.
In game one, T.R. Miller used an early 8-2 lead and extended it to 17-5 before taking the 25-16 win.
Elizabeth Nelson led with eight service points and three aces.
In game two, the Lady Tigers fell 25-22, Monroe County took an opening 4-0 lead, but T.R. Miller closed the lead and grabbed a 6-5 lead. A tight game until Monroe County took a 21-18 lead and claimed the win 25-22.
In game three, Janel McCorvey opened the game with nine straight service points and T.R. Miller held a 12-2 lead and then a 21-5 lead en route to the 25-9 win, McCorvey led with nine points and one kill.
In game four, T.R. Miller took an 8-3 lead and then claimed a 16-10 before Hubbard reeled off eight straight service points to give Miller the 25-11 win.
In JV action, T.R. Miller improved to 5-1 with a 25-14 win and a 25-8 win in game two.
In game one, Leah Brundidge gave T.R. Miller an early 14-0 lead on 14 straight service points and five aces. From there, Monroe County cut the lead to 18-11, but Miller claimed the win 25-14.
In game two, Amber Nelson had four service points and four aces and two kills along with five service points from Brundidge and four from Jerrica Watson and Haley Brown to claim the 25-8 win.
