After cruising through the class 3A region 1 competition so far and outscoring opponents 201-38, this week and next week's opponents for the Tigers should be a different case.
The next two opponents for the Tigers are the Luverne and Straughn High School Tigers.
Both teams are undefeated in the region at 4-0 along with T.R. Miller and are a combined 10-2 overall.
But first things first. This week, the Tigers will travel to Luverne and end their three game road trip at Glen Daniels Stadium.
Luverne is coming off a 28-13 win over Cottage Hill Friday night while T.R. Miller is coming off a 63-6 win over Calhoun.
As for the Luverne Tigers, this will be the first time that the two teams have met on the football field.
If one is familiar with high school football, they may recognize the name of Glen Daniels.
Daniels is a former coach at Luverne and the stadium bears his name. Daniels is the all-time winningest coach in Alabama High School football. Daniels has 302 wins, 169 losses and 16 ties. That is 15 more wins than second place Steve Saverese.
Luverne is under first year head coach Les Sanders. Sanders played quarterback for Riggs at Opp. Another connection between the T.R. Miller Tigers and Luverne is former Miller assistant Mike Archie, now an assistant at Luverne.
Luverne, who previously was in the class 2A ranks, moved up to class 3A this season.
While Riggs is pleased with Luverne's offense, he said they are also good at defense.
