After suffering a 55-18 loss to the Hillcrest Jaguars Friday night in Evergreen and falling to 0-4 in the class 4A region 1 standings and 2-4 overall, the Eagles take on UMS-Wright this week at home.
In the loss to Hillcrest Friday, head coach Blaine Hathcock said Hillcrest dominated his team in every phase of the game.
As if that is not already a hard task, the Eagles will be taking on a UMS-Wright team that is coming off its first class 4A region loss since 2000, a stretch of 45 straight wins in the region. The Bulldogs fell to Jackson this past Friday night in Jackson 39-14. UMS-Wright fell to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in region play.
While Hathcock said the Bulldogs' tail back is a big key to their offense, the Bulldogs' feature some other key players on offense.
Offensively for the Bulldogs, Hathcock said if Dukes is back and running well for the Bulldogs, that his team will have to stop him to have a chance to win.
While the key will be stopping the Bulldogs on offense, the key for the Eagle offense is to sustain drives and put points on the board.
Game time between the Eagles and the Bulldogs of UMS-Wright is set for 7 p.m. in East Brewton at W.S. Neal Stadium.
