Audrey “Short” Campbell

Mr. Audrey “Short” Campbell, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at a Pensacola hospital. He was a native of Jay, Fla., a former resident of Pensacola, Fla., and a resident of Century for the past 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was the owner and operator of Campbell Plumbing and Electric. He is the last survivor of 13 children and was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Campbell; a daughter, Sharon Louise Campbell and a son, Terry Wayne Campbell.
He is survived by a son, Marvin Darrell (Teresa) Campbell of Jay; a daughter, Gloria Jean Campbell (Cpt. Joseph F. SC, USN) Manna; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Rice officiating. Military burial followed at McCurdy Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel directing. Pallbearers were Jimmy Cash, Anthony Cash, Kenny Hammac, Brian Carty, William Odom and Allen Stacey. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Odom, Roy Odom, Barney Cash, Doug Odom and Michael Campbell.
