Lady Tigers claim fourth straight ECT

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger volleyball team proved that they were tops in the county again on Saturday as they claimed their fourth straight Escambia County volleyball tournament championship in Atmore.
The Lady Tigers swept all other county schools, Flomaton, W.S. Neal and Atmore, and improved to 12-3 on the season.

Miller Lady Tiger head volleyball coach Greg White said. “Being county champions four years in a row is something that they can look back on years from now and be very proud of. Hopefully we can make it a 5-peat next year.”
T.R. Miller opened the tournament on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Flomaton. The Lady Tigers won 25-18 in game one and 25-21 in game two.
In game one, Janel McCorvey and Brandi Kennedy both led with six service points. In game two, McCorvey led with six service points, nine total, to start the game and help lead the Lady Tigers to the win.
TRM 2, WSN 0
In their second match of the tournament, T.R. Miller defeated W.S. Neal 2-0 by scores of 25-14 and 25-23.
In game one, Elizabeth Nelson and Natalie Neal each had six service points each. In game two, Neal had seven service points and Taylor Guthrie had six service points.
TRM 2, Atmore 0
In the third and final game, needing just one more win to sweep the tournament and claimed their fifth straight win, T.R. Miller beat Atmore 25-19 and 25-18 to claim the win.
In game one, Neal led with 10 service points and Nelson and Guthrie both had five service points each.
In game two, Nelson and Neal both had six service points and Brandi Kennedy had five service points.

Cottage Hill 3, T.R. Miller 0
After clinching the Escambia County tournament on Saturday in Atmore, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger's season came to an end on Monday when they lost 3-0 to Cottage Hill in the area tournament. With the loss, T.R. Miller finished the season with a 15-4 record.
In game one against Cottage Hill, T.R. Miller lost 25-16. Kennedy and Nelson both had four service points each.
The game went back and forth the whole time with T.R. Miller being down 15-16 and then Cottage Hill scored four in a row to make it 15-20 and T.R. Miller could not recover and lost 25-16.
In game two, T.R. Miller lost 25-13. Neal had five service points to lead the Lady Tigers.
It was a two-point game at 5-7 and then Cottage Hill reeled off seven consecutive points and we Miller got down 5-14.
In game three, T.R. Miller lost 18-25. Neal led with nine service points.
While the season ended sooner this year for the Lady Tigers, they posted a 15-4 record.
