After a thrilling 14-13 come-from-behind region win last week in Luverne, the T.R. Miller Tigers will be faced with another strong region test this week at home for homecoming.
The Tigers will be taking on their second set of Tigers this week when they play 7-0 overall and 5-0 in class 3A region 1 Straughn High School for the region championship.
Straughn is coming off a 47-14 win last week over Calhoun while T.R. Miller is coming off their one-point win over Luverne.
The T.R. Miller Tigers trailed 13-0 at the half and held Luverne scoreless in the second half with some key defensive stops and scored two touchdowns to win 14-13.
It was the Tigers' third fourth quarter comeback this season but first in region play. The Tigers showed they can win close games with a 22-21 non-region win over Atmore in Atmore in the first game of the year and a 17-14 win over Clarke County in week five on the road.
This week, T.R. Miller will welcome Straughn to Brewton Municipal Stadium for the Tigers' homecoming. It will really be a homecoming for the Tigers, as T.R. Miller will be playing its first home game since week four of the season back on Sept. 19 against Central of Hayneville.
While the Straughn offense is the first thing Riggs said he sees, the second would be their defense.
While this is a big game for the Tigers of Brewton, it is also homecoming week.
Game time for the big region championship game is set at 7 p.m. at Brewton Municipal Stadium in Brewton with pre-game homecoming festivities set for 6:30 p.m.
