Mr. Wilson Mallard, Jr., 61, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2008. He was a member of Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 1964 graduate of Southern Normal School. He was an employee of the Escambia County Sheriff's Department for many years, and with the East Brewton Police Department for 16 years. He served as the Chief of the East Brewton Police Department from 1988 until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of the Invincible Lodge 200 and the Brewton Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his children, Willie Donell (Tammie) Mallard, Aletha Lynn Mallard, and Carlos (Nicole) Montgomery; his brothers, Raymond (Barbara) Mallard of Greenville, Lawrence (Betty) Mallard of Miami, Fla., Randall (Tonya) Mallard of Jacksonville, Fla., and Maurice (Yvonne) Mallard of Navarre, Fla.; his sisters, Claudette Mallard of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Val Jean Mallard of Brewton, and Minnie (Vallie) Chambliss of Augusta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 11, at 11 a..m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
