It didn't go in the record books as a loss, but it was not a win either as the T.R. Miller B team finished their season with a 14-14 tie with Opp Monday night in Brewton and finished their season with a 5-0-1 record.
Trailing 14-6 at the half, the Tigers used just two plays to open the second half and on the second play, Jaren Jackson went 53 yards to the end zone to cut the Opp Bobcat lead to 14-12 with 6:57 left in the third quarter. Anthony Herbert scored on an option play on the two-point conversion to tie the game at 14-14.
With 2:26 left in the game, the Tigers took over at their own 7-yard line after an interception and used seven plays to get to the Bobcat 38-yard line with under a minute to go.
But on the eighth play of the Tiger drive, quarterback Conner Denton's pass was intercepted by a Bobcat and returned to the Opp 49-yard line.
From there, Opp drove to the Tigers' 24-yard line, before Jackson intercepted an Opp pass and returned it to the 41-yard line before being pushed out of bounds as time expired and ending the game with a 14-14 tie.
Jackson led the Tigers with 89 yards on nine carries and Anthony Herbert followed with 64 yards as the Tigers racked up 164 yards on the ground.
Denton was 4-for-10 with one interception and 74 yards. Denton hooked up with Herbert for 31 yards and had two passes to James Matthews for 34 yards.
Jackson's 53-yard touchdown was preceded by a 1-yard touchdown run from Telvin Spears in the second quarter.
