Mr. Melvin Daniel McBride Sr., 63, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at his residence in Flomaton. He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County. He worked as a carpenter for Jack Hines Construction Company for a number of years. He was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. McBride and Lelia Stephens McBride; a son, Bruce Gavin; and a granddaughter, Heather Sutton and her son.
He is survived by his wife, Eva McBride of Flomaton; three sons, Gregory Leon Gavin of Atmore, and Melvin McBride Jr. and Carey Daniel McBride, both of Flomaton; two daughters, Cindy Mobley and Eva Evon McBride, both of Flomaton; one brother, Bill McBride of Malacoff, Texas; three sisters, Verla Mae of Palestine, Texas, and Alice Pope and Jewel Adams, both of Flomaton; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m. with Pat Carden officiating at Craver's Funeral Home chapel with Craver's Funeral Home directing.
