Brewton Middle School hoops fall to Carver

Both the Brewton Middle School boys and girls basketball teams opened their seasons Monday night at home with loses to Carver.
The Lady Tigers dropped a 25-15 decision to the Lady Blackcats and the boy's team fell 56-30.
With the losses, both teams fell to 0-1 on the year.
Brewton will be back in action Monday at home against W.S. Neal Middle School.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. for the girls and 5:30 p.m. for the boys at T.R. Miller High School gymnasium.
Carver 25, BMS 15
In girls action Monday, Carver jumped out to an early first quarter lead at 10-2 and held Brewton to only two more points in the second quarter to hold a 15-4 lead at the half.
With the 15-4 lead at the half, Carver was outscored by Brewton 11-10 in the second half, but was able to hold on for a 25-15 win.
Jasmine Montgomery led the Lady Tigers with seven points in the loss.
Lauren Bradley had four points followed by two each from Audrey Hamric and Kristen Booker.
Carver 56, BMS 30
In boy's action, Brewton was outscored 15-3 in the first quarter and 12-4 in the second quarter as the Blackcats held a 27-7 lead over Brewton at the half.
Carver came out of the half and scored 17 points in the third quarter to Brewton's nine to claim a 44-16 lead.
Brewton then outscored the Blackcats 14-12 in the fourth quarter, but Carver held on for the 26-point win, 56-30.
Davon Samuel led Brewton with 10 points and Mark Bryant and Dominique Jackson followed with five each.
Allen Miller had four points followed with three from Jacoby Broughton.
Aaron Yuhasz picked up two for the Tigers, and Caleb Hubbard provided one point in the loss for Brewton.
